This production was special for me because it was my first title role for West Australian Opera. I'm incredibly grateful for the support that WAO has given me over the years through being a Wesfarmers Arts Young Artist, Roberts Emerging Artist and Principal Artist. Aeneas was also a role debut for me and is exciting because it fits my vocal fach really well. I’ll also be covering the role of Aeneas for Opera Queensland later on this year.
Have you learned anything as a singer/your voice whilst preparing for this production?
Over the last few months I've been looking to add more back space into how I approach my singing as to create more overtones in the sound. Preparing Aeneas has been my first opportunity to give this new practice a test run. I've found it largely successful which has been really promising.
